Spanish Beef Hash

Similar to goulash, this savory dish has been a week night hit in our household. For a spicier version – double the hot sauce and Cajun seasoning amounts.


  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow or red bell pepper – chopped
  • 1 small onion – chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves – minced
  • 2 small potatoes peeled and chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes – chopped
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Cajun Seasoning


  • In a dutch oven cook the beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic until the meat is browned and the onions are close to translucent.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer covered for about 60 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked.
  • Serve over white rice.
