Roasted Brussel Sprouts (5 out of 5 Stars)

I know what your thinking: how on earth can you make a brussel sprout good?  Well folks, it took a lot of attempts with brussel sprouts to make them awesome, but finally I have found perfection.  Prepare yourself to fall in love…

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper
  • 1/4 cup white onion
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)
  • Crushed Bacon Bits (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Cut ends of brussel sprouts off and tear off the first layer of leaves. Rinse thoroughly and put in bowl. On the stove, combine 3 tbsp of butter, 1/4 cup of chopped white onion and 2 tbsp of minced garlic. Leave on stove only until butter is fully melted. Once ready, coat and mix the butter sauce on the brussel sprouts and mix in your crushed red pepper, salt and pepper.

Heat grill on low-medium heat. Once ready place the brussel sprouts on a tray and cook for about 15 minutes. Keep an eye on them while they are on the grill, be sure to rotate them as they brown on one side. To really spice things up, serve with crushed pieces of bacon. Voila!

As a man, I naturally dislike vegetables. I decided to give this a try on one of my “health kick” weekends. It helped that I was able to prepare this recipe on the grill next to a perfectly seared steak.
To be honest, most of the time I only enjoy vegetables when they are covered in cheese or some other sauce so that you don’t really taste the rabbit food hidden within. I must admit that this is the exception to the rule. The little Brussel sprouts were very tasty and complimented my steak well. As unlikely as this may sound, try these veggies…
